This song is a must for everyone who is into Alternative Pop/Rock and bands such as Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails or U2 and I really love how this artist combines certain genres in his unique style. This song features an awesome build-up in the intro and I love the synthesizer effects with guitar in the background. It also leads you into this song naturally, which is exactly what an intro is meant to do. A lot of artists get this vital first step wrong, but not Zufo.
The vocals start at just the right time and the male voice is outstanding. This singer is clearly a professional and effortlessly manages to hit the higher notes, as well as the lower notes each and every single time. It is really refreshing to hear such a skilled singer as this is quite rare in todays market place. The vocals are sung very clearly and are easy to understand as well. The chorus of this song is very catchy and I love the lyrics, especially the line ‘All I want is this, to be where you exist, to touch consciousness’.
The bridge in the middle of the song is also really well done and I love the synthesizer melody, followed by an incredible guitar solo. The solo might just be my favourite part of this whole song, as it features a range of techniques that are very hard to play, such as bend-ups and certain notes that are played quite fast, yet this has still got a lot of soul in it and it is not one of those mindless solos that just contain a bunch of notes thrown together. The guitar sound sounds just right for this genre and not too distorted in my opinion. It also works very well with the bass, synthesizer and drums.
Speaking of drums, there are some great fill-ins in there, which are very well done and deserve to be mentioned. As a drummer is always the heart of any band or song, this is vital to make a track outstanding, and this is certainly the case here. Each instrument is not only played to perfection and sounds very professional, it is also mixed and mastered perfectly, so that the instruments don’t take the attention away from the vocals. A lot of artists hide their weak vocals behind distorted guitars, but this is definitely not the case here. With a voice like this there is no need to hide anything.
All in all I can only recommend this track to anyone who considers him/herself to have good taste in music, as this track is worth a listen or two. What makes this track outstanding is the fusion of electronic synthesizer sounds, good-old guitar riffs and an incredible solo. This track is a pleasure to listen to and I am sure many people will listen to it on repeat for quite some time. For all those reasons I think this song definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars, and I can only recommend anyone to listen to this track and buy it here: www.reverbnation.com/zufo
